What is a Newborn At-home Lifestyle Session?

As wonderful as all of it is, having a newborn can be stressful!!! I want to make life as easy as I can for you and that is why this type of newborn session is my all time favorite way to capture a family. It is comfortable, calm and it is an opportunity to capture this small window of time in your life as it is. I get to document the story of your family. While the focus is on your newborn - their tiny toes, their yawn or the wrinkles around their wrists , I also love to capture all the other details of welcoming a new baby into your lives. The little details in the nursery, the way mama has a peaceful aura of boundless love when she looks at her baby, the way daddy holds her so tenderly, how big brother or sister is curious about this new person in their life - I love to document it all. It is an honor to create a testament to those sweet, sacred, loving moments when a new baby is welcomed into a family.

For me, babies in their parents arms is beautiful. It's exactly where they belong and how I wanted to remember my own little ones when they were so tiny and fragile. After you book your session, I will send you a prep guide ahead of time, so you will feel ready. When I come to your home to photograph your baby it is perfectly okay if your baby is asleep or awake – I'm simply there to capture your baby and family as they are. When I get there, I will walk around your house and find spots in your home with beautiful light, so I will know where to hang out for our session. There are no expectation for your baby to perform. Babies can be very fussy, so being able to stay in the comfort of your own home where you have everything you need makes it simple. I will give you suggestions for various poses, but I do want the session to feel natural and genuine. It is your story that I want to tell.

1. Your own home is the most comfortable place: So much has changed, but your home is your comfort space. During all the transitions, it can be much easier to stay put and let the photographer come to where you are most relaxed. And if you are more relaxed, baby is more relaxed too. 2. Authentic Moments: When you look back at these images in years to come, not only the images of the baby, but all the other items surrounding baby and family will bring back memories too. All of it tells the story. 3. More freedom in scheduling your session: Most often your newborn session should be scheduled during those first 2 weeks of your newborns life (when they are more sleepy and so very tiny), but I know that life happens and that isn't always possible. A Newborn Lifestyle Session allows for more freedom with your scheduling, since baby can be awake or asleep for the session.
