It is fitting that my very first blog post is about my mother. There is nothing more important to me than my family and I am lucky to have the most amazing mom. When I was a little girl I told her, "I don't just love you. I like you. Everybody loves their mother, but I like you too. That's even better than loving someone." That was true when I was little and it's even truer today. I knew that I wanted to do something special for her for Mother's Day. I wanted to pamper her, make her see herself for the beautiful woman that she is and give her something tangible that would remind her of that. So my sister and I worked together to style her hair, her makeup, find outfits in her wardrobe and get beautiful images that captured her personality. I bought a few 4' x 8' foam boards from Lowe's and painted them to be backdrops in a few different colors I thought would compliment her outfits and skin.
We put on some relaxing, Christian music (her favorite), setup makeup and curling irons in the bathroom and just played with different makeup product, trying on eye shadows and figuring out how to curl her eyelashes. Being my biggest cheerleader, she trusted my ideas and suggested poses knowing that I wanted her to look as beautiful in photos as she does to me all the time.
I was important to me that she looked like her authentic self... beautiful, sophisticated, friendly, joyful, kind, and vibrant. And as excited as she was about being pampered, she had a request that she get a few pictures of her two daughters in pictures with her as well. My husband agreed to snap the photos if I had everything setup and ready to go. He did a great job. I'm so thankful we have all these images. Not only was it a really fun day with my family, but we have images of her and us that we will treasure for a lifetime.
