Best ways to prepare for you maternity session ahead of time.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! It is such an exciting time in the life of a family. There is so much to prepare for with the arrival of a new baby, but don't forgot about capturing this special and unique time in your lives. There is so much to celebrate about a new baby becoming a part of your life.
Whether this is your first baby or if this baby is joining a family, here are a few tips to help you prepare for your maternity session and have portraits you love.
Tip #1 - Get your session on the calendar
The best time to schedule your session is between 28 - 32 weeks, but if you are past that time frame it is not too late. What is most important is documenting that beautiful belly and this time of great anticipation. By 28 weeks, your belly will be starting to show well for photographs, but you will still feel comfortable moving around for a variety of poses. If you are starting to slow down or you are needing to rest more, there are still so many options of beautiful poses to show off that belly. You can find an available date at https://www.amandamilesphotography.com/maternity-info or by sending me an email at amandamilesphotographyllc@gmail.com.
Tip #2 - Talk to your photographer about what you would like from your session
As your photographer, I am here to help you. If you have always dreamed of doing a session with gold glitter or a long flowy dress in a field or with your children surrounding you, let me know. If you don't have any ideas, but you know that it's important to document this season of your life that's okay too. As your photographer I have lots of ideas too.
Tip #3 - Pamper yourself
This is a wonderful reason to pamper yourself. Things are going to get crazy very soon. Growing a human being is hard work, so getting a chance to schedule a pedicure or hire a makeup artist, put on a dress that makes you feel beautiful and get extra rest can really feel so very special. Find something to wear that you love, but be sure that it shows off the belly. This is your moment to celebrate it, so clothing that is fitted, stretchy (and comfortable) are ideal. Some fun website to check out for clothing are https://balticborn.com/ or https://www.lukalula.com.
Tip #4 - Decide who you want to bring
You may want to get photos alone or you may want to invite your significant other, children or a family pet. Anyone who will be a part of the session should have outfits that coordinate with what you are wearing. You are the star of this session so decide what you want to wear first. You want their clothing to compliment and not distract from the portraits. Neutral, solid colored clothing is a safe option.
Tip #5 - Have fun!
As your photographer, I am there to take care of you and make sure that you are comfortable and look beautiful. You've done all the planning and preparing ahead of time, so now relax and let me take care of the rest. You don't need to know how to pose or what to do. I have lots of tips and suggestions so that you can just enjoy this window of time before you meet your little one.
