Preparing for your Actor Headshot Session

Capturing Character: Corinne’s Actor Headshot Session

When Corinne arrived at the studio for her actor headshot session, I knew right away it was going to be a fun and dynamic shoot. Full of energy and personality, she brought a level of enthusiasm that made it easy to explore a wide range of looks. Whether she was offering a bold, commanding presence or softening into something more approachable and sweet, Corinne gave us a glimpse of just how many roles she’s capable of stepping into.

One of the goals of any actor headshot session is to showcase range — not just in wardrobe, but in emotion and expression. With thoughtful styling and subtle shifts in body language, Corinne moved effortlessly between looks that felt natural, grounded, and truly reflective of the wide spectrum of characters she can portray. From clean, professional headshots to more relaxed, character-driven images, we built a gallery that can support her submissions for various castings.

If you’re an actor preparing for new headshots, here are a few things to consider going into your session:

  • Think beyond the basics. Your primary headshot should feel like you on your best day — but it’s also smart to bring a few wardrobe options that hint at different character types you’re often called in for.

  • Less is more with styling. Keep hair and makeup clean and minimal, unless you're going for a very specific type. You want casting directors to see you, not a heavily edited version of you.

  • Know your type. Do you typically play the girl-next-door, the comedic best friend, or the sharp-witted detective? Bringing pieces that suggest those roles can help tell that story without needing props or full costumes.

  • Bring your energy. The best headshots aren’t just about a good smile — they’re about the energy behind the eyes. Corinne’s ability to connect with the camera made each image come alive.

It was a joy to work with Corinne and help her create images that reflect both who she is and who she can be on screen. I can’t wait to see where her talent takes her next!

If you're ready to update your headshots or have questions about how to prepare for an actor session, I’d love to help.
